Premiers set to play at Mountain Ash, Three new teams make their debut.

By Colin Patterson

Your Thundurus Thursday clash is set to be a stunner, with two new teams making their debut under the lights at Waratah Park.

Anybody who has watched even a snippet of the MBFL will know what to expect. The Wattlebirds have been in record form since their announced introduction to the FCFL later last season. In the last MBFL season they finished a slice away from the top spot, only failing to the Cockatoos Reserves. With some great young talent, the Wattlebirds are set to shine on Thursday.

The Emus however, have not had such luck in the PFL. After being destroyed by the Magpies Reserves at Sycamore Farms Oval last week and finishing at the bottom of the ladder, they look to “wipe their slate clean” on Thursday.

On Friday night the reigning premiers play the slowly improving Snakes side. The Cockatoos where meant to kick off their season at Eucalyptus Arena, but due to the unexpected protests last year from the heritage council, the upgrades are still delayed and Eucalyptus Arena is not fit to play. They will instead play at the newly upgraded Mountain Ash Arena as a home game.

The Snakes might still have a chance in competing with the premiers. Their form has been steadily improving in the FFL, and they have some good young talent. They finished second in close competition with the Wombats Reserves, and won the premiership later last week against the Wombats.
